Who is Phernell Walker?
Anyone who meets Phernell Walker knows that optics is his passion. He has become an internationally-recognized speaker because of his unique talent for teaching his students everything they need to know to become a professional optician. He authored the textbook, Pure Optics, to help his students prepare for the ABO exams. Mr. Walker is one of only a few hundred people to earn a Master in Ophthalmic Optics (ABOM). He currently serves as the Renowned Expert VP of Optometric Relations at VSP Eyefinity. His educational achievements include an MBA, BS in Business, and an AS in Ophthalmic Optics. He is certified by the both the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLEC).
Special Recognition
Mr. Walker was honored in Vision Monday’s “Forty under Forty”, which listed forty of the nations brightest and innovative ECP's in the country. Mr. Walker was the recipient of the prestigious Beverly Myer’s Achievement Award in Ophthalmic Optics (2011) and the Joseph Bruneni Award in Optics by the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (2017). In 2017 he also received the Educator of the Year from the National Academy of Opticianry.
